PubCon: Yahoo Party At The Playboy Suite Wow, what a party! Yahoo had a very private, invite-only party at the Palms Towers in the Playboy suite. Thank you to Yahoo PR for letting me bring Karen and Jolina from the TopRank team. This was their first conference and Karen's fist time in Las Vegas.
Google Groups Regroups With Beta It's more than just a facelift, as Google took the existing Groups service that grew from its long-ago purchase of Dejanews into a more Googly look with an expanded set of features. Maybe it is more remarkable that Google has learned to take a joke. The company's wide variety of product releases have a lot of Beta labels...

Hollywood recruits one of it's biggest names to ask the tough questions about the environment on Yahoo! Answers.
Leonardo DiCaprio knows a thing or two about the environment and global warming.
After all, he does live in Los Angeles, one of the most polluted cities in the country and he drives a Toyota Prius, which is an eco-friendly hybrid car. So naturally, the environmental group Global Green USA would invite the actor to pose a burning question about global warming on Yahoo! Answers.
Yahoo! Answers is a site where users may post a question and then have it answered by fellow users on how to solve the dilemma at hand.
DiCaprio, who serves on the board of directors for Global Green USA, posted a question on the site to bring the issue of global warming to the online community.
Calling global warming "one of the most threatening environmental problems, but one of the greatest challenges facing all of humanity," DiCaprio posted the following question on Yahoo! Answers: "What are some simple steps or creative ideas that people can take at home and work to combat global warming?"
So far the "king of the world's" query has received 1, 166 answers from site users.
Matt Petersen, president and chief of Global Green USA, says the question was, "meant to provoke thought about what people can do in their own lives and what leaders can do to take us in a different course."

DiCaprio realizes that the Yahoo! Answers format is perfect for raising awareness, stating that, "Creating communities online that are interested in discussing and embracing smart, simple and serious solutions reminds us we can all take action in our own homes and where we work."
In June, Yahoo! Answers hosted a round of celebrity-posted questions, which were mostly to promote their various charities and philanthropic causes. However, some users feel that celebrities who post questions on Yahoo! Answers are only doing it for self-promotion.
Whatever the reasoning behind celebrities posting questions on Yahoo! Answers, they are certainly using an effective platform in promoting their issues.
