The White House announced President George W. Bush will present Cerf and Robert Kahn with the Presidential Medal of Freedom, America's highest civilian honor.
Their work with the Internet long-documented, Cerf and Kahn will receive the highest recognition officially available from the government on November 9th. A ceremony at the White House featuring President Bush and several Medal of Freedom recipients was disclosed in a press release.
"Vinton Cerf and Robert Kahn designed the software code that is used to transmit data over the Internet. Dr. Cerf and Dr. Kahn have been at the forefront of a digital revolution that has transformed global commerce, communication, and entertainment," the release said of the two technologists.
