Yahoo Gets Cheeky

Since the battle for email users could mean an arm and a leg in revenue for the major online portals, Yahoo has been trying to get ahead of Gmail, or we should say, trying not to fall behind.

Think the competition between search engines has been overhyped? Take a peek at the picture of the stickers Yahoo placed on some of their cafeteria chairs.

The little guy in the sticker is Alpha Geek, also called Mail Guy, and exists as a statue. The statue went to the Mail Team at Yahoo along with a plaque celebrating their efforts, according to the Flickr poster.

Yahoo has been having a lot of fun with Google as the focal point for its jokes. A beta of Yahoo Maps briefly listed the Google headquarters address as being that of "The Dude's Fish Store," and users in New Zealand and Australia who search for "google" on Yahoo get presented with a "Why not try Yahoo! Search" message and a Yahoo search box in the results.
