You're tired. It's hot and steamy outside because it's been raining sporadically all day.

But you promised your kids that they could see the new Disney film today. And let's face it, you could use the break, too.

You don't want to bundle everyone into the SUV and head to the cinemegagoogleplex. But what else can you do? You promised, remember?

Fear not, Disney is coming to the rescue. They hope to start selling films over the Internet as soon as June 6. This will include new films the day they come out.

Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Disney's home video company, will make the films available on a download-to-own basis.

Current and older films can be purchased to view on home computers and portable devices.

Actually, this is one time Disney is behind others in the industry; five other Hollywood studios launched similar services in April via a download-to-own service called Movielink.

Disney's latest offer is not exclusive, so the firm can still reach similar film deals with other operators, a firm spokesperson said.

Until April, studios in Hollywood didn't want to offer their films on the Internet fearing this would encourage bootlegging of their films and lower revenue from box office and video rental sales.

Films downloaded from Disney's new service will be protected to prevent copying.

The first film to be made available will be Glory Road.
